What we do:

Energy Storage System Design Engineers focus on designing and prototyping high voltage and high-power energy storage system in electrified aircrafts. The Energy Storage System Design Engineer - Mechanical participates in mechanical design process of our ESS from conceptual designs, selection of components, prototype builds to releasing design for manufacturing. This role collaborates with Sr. battery design engineers, DAEs, test engineers and product integration engineers to ensure a robust ESS to be designed, built, and integrated to our eVTOL aircraft.

What you can do:

  • Design of ESS's components from concept to production
  • Perform analytical and physical assessments on ESS to ensure the design's robustness and reliability, as well as to match with requirements
  • Support the engineering tools development to provide trade-off studies between packaging efficiency, thermal, NVH prior to and/or during design phases
  • Build and contribute to component specifications, verification plans, and other technical documents
  • Document and release designs in the PLM system
  • Conduct prototype builds
  • Collaborate with ESS's component suppliers to support new technology development
  • Collaborate with the integration team to optimize and improve the designs
  • Collaborate with battery test and validation team on DVP&R activities
  • May require up to 25% of domestic and international travels
  • Other duties as assigned What you can contribute:
    • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, relevant engineering field
    • A minimum of three (3) years experience with mechanical design for energy storage system related components (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
    • Experience with CATIA
    • Ability to demonstrate excellent understanding of mechanical structures, electrical and thermal analysis of a battery system, especially for high voltage and high-power applications
    • Proven experience developing engineering tools/processes to support analysis and design
    • Experience with design for mass production is a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Sense of urgency, proactive delivery of communication and follow up
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

      The pay range for this position is:
      $133,120 $186,160 USD
