They work primarily with specimens collected from the body, such as those from the cervix, lung, or other organs, helping physicians identify conditions like cancer, infections, and pre-cancerous changes. /n/nKey Responsibilities:/n /n - Prepare and analyze cellular specimens, such as Pap smears, thin prep, and other cytological specimens, to identify abnormalities. /n - Examine cells under a microscope to detect and diagnose conditions such as cancer, infections, and pre-cancerous changes. /n - Utilize computer-assisted technologies and automated systems to enhance the accuracy of cytological analysis. /n - Collaborate with pathologists to interpret cytology results and provide diagnostic support for patient care. /n - Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of findings, including case reports and recommendations. /n - Perform quality control procedures, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of cytological testing results. /n - Stay current with advancements in cytological techniques, research, and technology to improve diagnostic accuracy. /n - Educate and inform physicians and other healthcare professionals on the significance of cytological findings. /n - Follow safety and infection control protocols when handling and processing specimens. /n - Participate in research, continuing education, and professional development to maintain expertise in cytology. /n - Contribute to multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with pathologists and other healthcare professionals for patient diagnosis and treatment planning. /n /n/nQualifications:/n /n - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology or a related field. /n - Certification:/n /n - Certified Cytotechnologist (CT) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred. /n /n /n - Experience: Previous experience in cytology or pathology /n Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID 32960736.
