Job Description:
Position Overview:The radiologic technologist performs routine
radiographic and fluoroscopy and/or CT procedures in accordance
with established rules of good practice and policies and
procedures.Principal accountabilities include:
- Has good knowledge of positioning, technical factors, clinical
information and correct marking and labeling of films.
- Ensures that radiation doses for patients remain within safe
ALARA limits.
- Follows radiation safety best practices.
- Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to assess the age
specific needs of the patients served, and provide appropriate
care.
- Performs radiographic procedures including but not limited to
basic xray, Operating Room, and fluoro procedures or is training to
advance to CT or is an accomplished CT technologist.
- Enhances professional growth and development through
participation in educational programs, current literature,
in-service meetings and meets certification criteria for
CEU's.Qualifications:Radiology Technologist I:
- Completion of a formal two-year course in an accredited program
in Radiologic Technology.
- CRT Certified by the state of California as a Radiologic
Technologist.
- New Graduates may apply upon confirmed ARRT Registry, may not
work until proof of CRT certified by the state of California as a
Radiologic Technologist
- Certified by the state of California in Fluoroscopy
requiredwithin 90 days after date of hire
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification.
- Knowledge of PACs and EPIC including registration, scheduling,
ordering, charging, and reports as required to carry out job
assignment
- Verbal and written communication skills for frequent and
challenging contact with physicians, employees, patients and
patient families; requires patience and compassion
- Critical thinking skills as it relates to specialized
departments this may include the ability to complete age
appropriate assessments
- Basic computer skills to include keyboarding and data entry
skills to enter information into electronic health records
- Ability to lift and position patients properly using best
practices.
- Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal
interactions.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Able to handle varying procedures and interruptions.
- Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative
manner.Radiology Technologist II:
- Completion of a formal two-year course in an accredited program
in Radiologic Technology. Completion of 8 hours of tomosynthesis
education desired.
- Certified by the state of California in both Radiologic
Technology and Fluoroscopy.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists.
- Current BLS certification from AHA.
- Minimum 1 year as a working Radiologic Technologist.
- Has knowledge of PACs and EPIC including registration,
scheduling, ordering, charging, and reports as required to carry
out job assignment.
- Critical thinking skills as it relates to specialized
departments this may include the ability to complete age
appropriate assessments
- Basic computer skills to include keyboarding and data entry
skills to enter information into electronic health records
- Ability to lift and position patients properly using best
practices
- Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal
