POSITION SUMMARY: The Farm Assistant will take direction from the Farm Manager and Farm Lead in the farming, landscaping and general property maintenance of the Clif Family Farm properties located in Pope Valley and Angwin. This candidate will be extremely flexible and enjoy a “high change” environment where priorities shift from day to day. RESPONSIBILITIES Take directions from Farm Manager and Farm Lead to ensure all farming and landscaping activities are completed in a timely manner. Soil preparation, composting, seed starting, transplanting, weeding, cultivating, watering and seed saving. Assist in spraying and fertilizing following CCOF guidelines and required safe pesticide handling practices. Plant a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs and landscaping following CCOF organic growing practices. Assist with proper harvesting, handling and storing of high-quality produce grown for the Bruschetteria Food Truck. Maintain all farming related equipment, tools, and supplies, including tractor, ATV, and Mule. Assist with the care of the animals including feeding, watering and moving animals when scheduled. Notify manager of irrigation, pests, diseases or other issues at the farm. Mowing, blowing, mulching, and pruning in a timely manner for ornamental landscape upkeep. Maintain tidy workspaces around the farm, washing station, tool shed, food storage areas and breakroom. Attend all scheduled safety meetings. Assist others with additional projects and work-related errands as needed. SKILLS REQUIRED The ideal candidate will have: Interest in farming in a rural area. Proven success in a team-oriented environment. Positive interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills. Take ownership and responsibility for actions, behaviors and contributions. Must be able to work in a dynamic farm environment with typical physical demands of a farm labor position such as walking, standing, reaching, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly and working indoors and outdoors in cold, hot or wet conditions. Valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record. EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED • Bilingual - communicate effectively in both English and Spanish strongly preferred. • Experience with a tractor and weed eater preferred. • Experience growing fruits and vegetables. Debe poder trabajar en un entorno agrícola dinámico con las demandas físicas típicas de un puesto de trabajo agrícola, como caminar, estar de pie, alcanzar, agacharse, ponerse en cuclillas, levantar hasta 50 libras repetidamente y trabajar en interiores y exteriores en condiciones de frío, calor o humedad. Licencia de conducir de California válida y un historial de conducción limpio. EDUCACIÓN/FORMACIÓN REQUERIDA • Bilingüe: se prefiere comunicarse eficazmente tanto en inglés como en español. • Se prefiere experiencia con tractor y desmalezadora. • Experiencia en el cultivo de frutas y verduras.
