POSITION SUMMARY:--Directs the financial affairs of the company and prepares financial analyses of operations including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. Responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, operational accounting, and budgeting/forecasting process, corporate taxes and treasury, and related internal controls. This position will require the ability to effectively develop, plan, communicate and effectively implement Synergy's financial strategy with specific attention to details.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Employee may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below.   • Directs the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns and reports; maintains company's system of accounts and keeps records of all financial transactions and assets
  • Directs invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash and checking account reconciliation
  • Understands and fully utilizes company financial software (NetSuite) and the interface with the booking and reservation system (OSCAR) for accounting purposes and company budgeting/forecasting software (Adaptive Planning and NetSuite).
  • Establishes fiscal policies with approval of the company's shareholders and works to ensure those policies are followed by all staff
  • Ensures depreciation schedules are up to date and accurate; works with outside accounting firm if necessary to maintain accurate depreciation schedules
  • Prepares financial documents and reports for lenders, outside accounting firm, local/state/federal entities, etc.; ensures compliance with federal, state and local tax requirements, including international operations; assists outside accounting firm in tax planning
  • Prepares and presents financial presentations to Senior ManagementRelationship with Lenders and Vendors
    • Maintains professional relationship with current lender; works with lender to increase lines of credit as necessary
    • Ensures company is in compliance with any lending agreements; supplies appropriate financial reports as requested
    • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with all vendors and appropriately implements expectations annually followed up by quarterly reviewsFiscal Control
      • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators, including areas of revenue, cost of sales expenses and capital expenditure
      • Provides Senior Management with insights and forecasts regarding financial issues that might affect operations and growth
      • Ensures all purchases are done within the DOA and that purchase orders and all payables match the purchase order before payment
      • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts; works to assist management to keep costs within those budgets; analyzes and provides reports on budget variances
      • Manages short and long term forecasting to ensure sales, margins and expenses are in line; analyzes projections of sales and margin against actual figures, as well as budgets against expenses
      • Generates financial analyses as requiredManagement of Accounting Department
        • Directs and controls all accounting personnel with the goal of providing accurate, timely and efficient financial transactions and reports
        • Works with the Company's staff and Accounts Receivable personnel to ensure that Billing is completed timely and that there is quick follow up on Accounts Receivable that is over 30 days
        • Recruits, hires, trains and develops accounting staff; responsible for performance reviewsSystems
          • Implement process improvements so that company can scale its operations through use of technology.Other Responsibilities
            • Manages and renews business insurance contracts-general liability and property
            • Review new business opportunities and thoroughly vets them for recommendation and go forward strategy
            • Estimates financial requirements for capital, property, equipment and personnel
            • Directs the proactive development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the company
            • Manages outside audits, complying with all audit requirements in a timely manner
            • As a member of the Management Team, you will have responsibility for customer facing relationships opportunities whereby it will be critical to develop win-win relationshipsJOB REQUIREMENTS:
              • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA required
              • 15-20 years of progressive experience
              • Experience working in an international company including a foreign parent company
              • Thorough and applied knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including applied knowledge of finance accounting, budgeting/forecasting, profitability analysis and cost control principles
              • Thorough and applied knowledge of advanced financial analysis tools and systems
              • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
              • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
              • Ability to work in a team-based environment while driving deliverables across the organization
              • Strong business acumen
              • Proven experience in successfully managing a team
